REGULATIONS

LABELLING AND DISPLAY: REGULATIONS AND INFORMATION

Strictly regulated (EU regulation No 543/2011), the labelling of fruits and vegetables is both a legal obligation, and information for the consumer. To get a better picture, let us get back to these standards.

There are two regulations within the fruit and vegetable category. The first type of display (see the table below) applies to the ten products or group of products subject to the specific standard:

  • Citrus fruits (except lime, kumquat, pomelo and grapefruit)
  • Strawberry
  • Kiwi
  • Apple
  • Peach and nectarine
  • Pear
  • Dessert grape
  • Sweet pepper
  • Green salads (groups of lettuce, curly endives and escaroles)
  • Tomato

It also applies to products subject to a French decree (potatoes, pineapples from the French overseas departments, shallots (traditional or seedlings) and ripened banana)
